I’m an engineering leader who enjoys turning complicated problems into systems and teams that can scale.

My background spans software engineering, distributed systems, data and platform architecture, consumer products, and engineering leadership. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked everywhere from early-stage startups to large global technology and media companies, building products, modernizing platforms, and leading engineering organizations through significant technical and organizational change.

The work I’m most drawn to sits at the intersection of product, architecture, and people. I enjoy taking fragmented systems or unclear problems, finding the underlying structure, and helping teams build something durable—whether that means a new platform, a better operating model, or developing the leaders who will carry the work forward.

I’m especially interested in thoughtful conversations about engineering leadership, AI and the future of software development, distributed systems, product strategy, and how strong technical organizations are built.

Outside of work, I’m a parent, lifelong learner, and someone who genuinely enjoys meeting interesting people and hearing how they found their way into the work they do.

Professional Experience

The Walt Disney Company / Hulu | Los Angeles, CA

September 2017 – June 2026

Director of Software Engineering, Disney | August 2021 – June 2026
Principal Engineering Manager, Disney | March 2020 – August 2021
Senior Software Engineering Manager, Hulu | September 2017 – March 2020

  • Authored Disney Streaming’s shared content metadata model and set its architectural direction across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+. Made application availability, entitlement, and regional differences explicit so the platform could represent international content and live-to-on-demand experiences.

  • Led metadata engineering for Hulu’s integration into Disney+, Ads on Disney+, and Live Events on Disney+, coordinating platform dependencies and downstream data requirements.

  • Replaced the legacy Hulu publishing flow with a reusable metadata distribution platform. The team used configurable templates to generate the legacy output from shared canonical data and retired the separate publishing service.

  • Led six platform teams through five Engineering Managers and two Principal Architects, supporting 68 engineers and a $10M budget. Defined the multi-year platform strategy, technology roadmap, and organization-level OKRs.

  • Led Python-to-Java ingestion modernization for large provider refreshes and real-time metadata corrections, addressing ordering, duplicate delivery, malformed records, and partial failures.

  • Led ML-assisted entity matching for incoming provider metadata, with confidence-based routing to operator review.

  • Established production monitoring for throughput, consumer lag, errors, duplicate rates, and metadata drift to identify ingestion and publication problems.

  • Developed 19+ people into expanded roles and hired 16 managers and individual contributors, building leadership capacity across engineering management, architecture, and senior technical roles.

Samsung Electronics | New York, NY

July 2014 – November 2016

Senior Software Engineer; Tech Lead & Manager

  • Led backend engineering for Samsung Smart TVs and Samsung TV Plus. Designed Scala services and pipelines that normalized metadata from multiple providers into a universal content database processing more than 100 million records per day.

  • Built JSON REST APIs and API testing tools using Scala, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS.

HowAboutWe | New York, NY

April 2013 – July 2014

Senior Software Engineer; Tech Lead & Manager

  • Wrote production Ruby, designed service architecture, and led implementation for consumer web and iOS products. Introduced reusable platform interfaces and engineering processes that reduced release cycles by 40%.

AOL (Patch.com) | New York, NY

2011–2013

Engineering Manager & Lead Engineer

  • Led a publishing platform and shared pattern library used by more than 1,000 editors. Built Ruby- and Scala-based backend systems for customer-facing hyperlocal news products at national scale.

Partnerpedia | Vancouver, BC, Canada

2007–2011

Lead Engineer

  • Built and scaled a private-label enterprise SaaS marketplace and led UI/UX and frontend architecture for platforms used by Microsoft, RIM (BlackBerry), and Alcatel-Lucent.
